چکیده

This project consisted of performance testing and evaluation of concrete containing high-carbon fly ash and carbon fibers. One of the primary aims of this project was to further determine the effect of using high-carbon fly ash and carbon fibers on the electrical properties of concrete. This is a part of the continuing work performed initially by the UWM Center for By-Products Utilization (UWM-CBU) in 2000 and 2003. The intended uses of these conductive construction materials are in electrical grounding, or similar applications where conductive construction materials are needed. In electrical grounding applications, lowering the electrical resistance of bedding materials for grounding electrodes should result in reduced length, or entirely eliminate, the need for the grounding electrodes currently in use for protection of electrical equipment from lightning strikes. Many other potential applications exist for this type of conductive concrete. Fourteen different mixtures were specified by We Energies for testing of electrical properties. These mixtures consisted of:

Center for By-Products Utilization Performance Testing of Controlled Low Strength Materials and Concrete Using High-Carbon Fly Ash

This project consisted of performance testing and evaluation of concrete and Controlled LowStrength Materials (CLSM) containing high-carbon fly ash. One of the aims of this project was to determine the feasibility of incorporating carbon fibers into CLSM and concrete mixtures to lower electrical resistance of these two construction materials. This is continuing work performed by the UWM Center ...

Effect of High-Carbon Fly Ash on the Electrical Resistivity of Fly Ash Concrete Containing Carbon Fibers

Two series, each consisting of seven high-volume fly ash concrete mixtures with conductive carbon fibers, were used in this investigation. The first series of the concrete mixtures contained ASTM Class C fly ash and 0, 1, 3, 5, 7.5, 10, and 20 lbs. carbon fibers per cubic yard of concrete. The second series of concrete mixtures contained high-carbon fly ash in addition to the materials used in ...

PREDICTION OF COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH AND DURABILITY OF HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE BY ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS

Neural networks have recently been widely used to model some of the human activities in many areas of civil engineering applications. In the present paper, artificial neural networks (ANN) for predicting compressive strength of cubes and durability of concrete containing metakaolin with fly ash and silica fume with fly ash are developed at the age of 3, 7, 28, 56 and 90 days. For building these...

Strain and Damage Sensing Property of Self-compacting Concrete Reinforced with Carbon Fibers

Present paper investigated the strain and damage sensing property on concrete cubes embedded with carbon fibers. Concrete cubes of dimension 150 mm have been casted with different concentration of carbon fibers to study the strain and damage sensing property under cyclic loading that can be further used for health monitoring as non-destructive testing (NDT) approach. All the specimens were test...

Durability Performance of Self Compacting Concrete Incorporating Alccofine and Fly Ash

The cost associated with the application of large volume of cement and synthetic admixtures was one of the major drawbacks of Self Compacting Concrete (SCC), which can be reduced by the use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCM). When the demand of cement reduces, the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) from cement industries will come down, which has a positive impact on global w...
